Floor Tools

Advanced floor geometry manipulation tools for merging, cutting, and splitting floors.

Project Overview

Floor Tools is a collection of powerful utilities designed to speed up the creation and modification of floor elements in Revit. Whether you need to combine multiple adjacent floors, cut openings based on overlapping geometry, or split floors along complex curves, this toolset handles the geometry operations efficiently.

The suite includes three primary commands: Union Floors for merging, Subtract Floor for creating voids/openings, and Divide Floor for splitting elements. These tools retain the element's properties while modifying its geometry, saving hours of manual sketching.

Key Features

  • Union Floors: Select overlapping floors to merge them into one single floor element.
  • Subtract Floor: Use one or more floors as "cutters" to create openings in a target floor.
  • Divide Floor: Split floors into multiple separate elements using model lines or drawn curves.
  • Geometry Preservation: Maintains floor types, levels, and other instance parameters during operations.
  • Stacked Ribbon UI: Convenient stacked buttons in the Revit ribbon for easy access.

Technical Implementation

  • Boolean Operations: Uses Revit's solid geometry operations for precise unions and subtractions.
  • Sketch Editing: Automates the modification of floor sketch loops.
  • Curve Analysis: Algorithms to handle complex curve intersections and splitting logic.
  • Transaction Management: Robust handling of Revit transactions to ensure data integrity.
